West
Palm Beach is the northern metropolitan city to Ft. Lauderdale.
The reason it is called West Palm Beach is that there is an island
to the east of the city called "Palm Beach", which is
known as the Beverly Hills of Florida.
If
you are interested in great restaurants, high-end shopping, and
a mature nightlife, this is the town for you. Worth Street
in West Palm Beach has the most upscale, high-end shopping you will
find anywhere in Florida.
For
the mature crowd, we recommend CityPlace. Elaborately
decorated buildings and sparkling fountains abound in this modern
and upscale conglomeration of nightclubs, shops, and restaurants.
Of
course, every culture has its antithesis, and that is why West Palm
is also home to famous Clematis Street, an active,
energetic and youthful nightlife. The younger crowd frequents the
countless clubs, bars, and restaurants up and down this main drag
in downtown West Palm. For more about the youthful nightlife of
West Palm Beach, visit our "Off the Beaten Path" section!
If
you are interested in golf, this is also the world capitol. Nearby
Palm Beach Gardens is home to the PGA courses,
perhaps the finest golf in all of the world.
At
only a 40 minute drive to the north, West Palm is an accessible
destination for a day trip. You can easily visit and return to your
hotel without much hassle.
...All
points inbetween!
There are also many points of interest between Ft. Lauderdale and
West Palm in lower Palm Beach County. Mizner Park
in Boca Raton offers more of the finest in upscale, high-end shopping,
while nearby Delray Beach offers quaint sidewalk
coffee shops, bars, and great restaurants. Lake Worth
has fantastic nightlife and live music. All of these seaside destinations
feature some of the most incredible beaches in all of Florida.
